The Pin Oak tree starts off in a pyramidal shape, but as it matures, it loses the shape completely for a more rounded shape. It is considered an excellent shade tree for the summer months. Lush green leaves will form a dense shade canopy in the summer months and will turn bronze and sometimes red in Autumn. Some of the bronze/brown leaves will remain for the season until the new shoots appear in Spring. The tree is often planted in public parks and gardens for its ornamental value as well as hardy nature to withstand drought conditions. The tree has a majestic shape and is best suited for larger gardens where it can grow to its full potential.
