The local community were invited to come and enjoy an hour of fun-filled and informative activities at the Tree Nursery. First, the children were transported in our crane truck to the top of the farm, where another crane truck hoisted them higher than our highest palm trees (15m)! Then, they were shown how to plant and grow their own veggies in re-useable containers. There were carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, basil and peas that they learnt how to plant and grow! The third activity was a short presentation of our current drought situation and how we can all make a difference by trying to save water. Lastly, the community was treated to lovely sandwiches and cooldrinks and sent home with their own planted seeds!
According to a statement issued on Mandela’s behalf, “We would be honoured if such a day can serve to bring together people around the world to fight poverty and promote peace, reconciliation and cultural diversity,”
We believe that we have successfully made a small contribution to Mandela’s dream for this beautiful country we live in.
