On a half a hectare plot in an exclusive residential estate, 73 large and mature trees were installed in a matter of a week. What made this project an outstanding achievement, is the fact that all trees were installed during peak summer in December 2007. The trees include a range of 14 different indigenous and exotic ornamental species. All trees were in full leaf, and believe it or not, not only did all of the trees survive, they actually continued to flourish without shedding any leaves, and just continued to produce vigorous new growth!

Tree specialists confirmed that their beloved Tree of Lights, a large Californian Pine was dying. Fortunately Trees South Africa came to the rescue.

The objective was to create a graceful, undulating parkland with mature deciduous trees. 33 fully mature Liquidambar and Celtis species (10m tall and 6m wide) were installed. Some trees were strategically placed to soften the large concrete surfaces and straight lines of the contemporary home. Others formed a wooded parkland merging the residence’s trees with the trees on the adjacent public spaces of the Estate. Once again a 100% success, with all trees thriving and displaying excellent foliage density throughout the first summer season!
